These 1959 recordings were laid direct to a portable reel-to-reel in FURRY LEWIS' room at a boardinghouse in Memphis, TN where he worked as a street sweeper. It's a charming mix of improvised acoustic blues and storytelling that harkens back to the 78rpm sides he cut in the late 1920's.
