D.C. Recordings was established in 1995 by J. Saul Kane who records for the label under the pseudonyms Depth Charge, Alexander's Dark Band and Octagon Man. After establishing a name for himself (recording as Depth Charge and Midi Rain) on the Vinyl Solution label in the early 90's, Kane set up D.C. as an outlet for his own unique brew of hip hop beats, soundtrack snippets and obscure analogue bleeps. Soon other artists of a like mind such as Big Two Hundred (a.k.a. Chicken Lips) were introduced to diversify the label's musical parameters. From the outset Kane intended the label to be representational of his musical roots in hip hop, electro, disco, funk and soundtracks. |
